Eva Maddox

Teacher…Co-founder of Archeworks, an alternative, post-graduate school dedicated to development of design systems for those most in need.

Named by Fast Company as one of the “change agents... designers, & dreamers who are creating your future,” Eva Maddox is Principal of Perkins & Will | Eva Maddox Branded Environments. Ms. Maddox created Branded Environments, a research-based design approach that identifies & integrates a client’s “DNA” into tangible experiences. She has pioneered development of Brand Strategy within the Healthcare industry as well as the integration of community/cultural interpretations within the physical environment. Her current theories focus on development of restorative spaces and therapeutic processes for both patients and staff.

Well known Brands have benefited from the firm’s value-added solutions including; DuPont, the Chicago Tribune, John Hancock Properties and Tootsie Roll. Notable Healthcare clients that have benefited from the Branded Environments design and planning process include; La Rabida Children’s Hospital, the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, Swedish Covenant Hospital, the University of New Mexico Children’s Hospital, Northwestern University Medical School, and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

She is also co-founder of Archeworks, an alternative design school in Chicago. The mission of this not-for-profit school is to address real life social needs of the community through a multi-disciplinary approach that provides solutions through ground breaking design.

Maddox is active in the International Women’s Forum, The Chicago Network, Architectural Society of the Art Institute of Chicago, and The World Future Society. She serves on the boards of Archeworks, University of Cincinnati Foundation, and WESP Futures, University of Nebraska and Woodbury University. She currently teaches design strategy through distant learning at Ohio University.
